Totally unacceptable for an office like this one! And same for the manager's phone, given to me by WC government help line. And his cell phone - he simply doesn't answer so there is no way to contact this office.
No rubbish bin for the very long queues of people who stand and wait for hours. The lady at the counter that assisted me even had to answer questions from people just walking in. I believe that to answer questions pertaining to which qeue to stand in is the greeter's job. Got to Dept of Home Affairs on Fri 17 Dec 21 at 09h30.

It doesn't have a seat or door handle. You need to hold it closed while on the toilet. All the seats empty and no one allowed inside. 3rd time in 2 weeks and not even made it inside. You must wait how many hours in the line.just to inform you they are close and you must come the next day. I cannot get time off from work to come and stand for nothing in a line. They don't answer their phone although that is the number on the website.

Collecting was a quick breeze, I knew which queue to pick and had only 4 people ahead of me. Service friendly and efficient as previously mentioned. Had an appointment to collect my documents, staff were friendly and helpful, my compliments. The card payment system has already been piloted in Johannesburg and Pretoria and the system will go a long way in improving front line services. “There are floor walkers here who are dedicated to direct people accordingly as you enter the office. The signage is very clear.
The greeter could also assist with this. Unfortunately one cannot post a review without giving a single star. Stood waiting from 7h30. At 11h10 the system went offline. Another day wasted not even mentioning the cost.
Excellent service all round, clean toilets and social distancing adhered to. Some things do work in SA. If only the queuing was more organized and well defined I would have given it a 5 star rating. Hard working and competent staff with significantly better service than Stellenbosch Home Affairs. Like comparing the power rangers to the tellietubbies. Would absolutely recommend SWest over Stellies if you actually want something to get done.
If you're not in the queue by 6am, you probably won't get any assistance. The lady at the front desk (the meeter/greeter) ignores everyone and tells people to stand in incorrect queues. One of the most pathetic standards of service delivery I have ever experienced. Government services cannot be this terrible.

Arrived at 8am & got out of there at 13h15. This was for pictures, fingerprints & payment only. The colored lady who was assisting with the photos & also application was very friendly and fast. May you keep your service great. Turned away because they said they only service 30 people per day.
This was just before 3pm. God forbid you white or coloured, you will get attitude and receive the worst possible treatment. Home Affairs Somerset West, you are pathetic and is stealing the precious time of people queing for hours to come here.
How this has gotten so appalingly bad, and continues to worsen, is a mystery. Perhaps out tax money could be spent on this, the systems that involve the people who pay it, rather than government staff's fancy cars and holiday trips. Such incompetence, seems like a rule of thumb when it comes to most government facilities. Rude, uninformed and lazy staff who dont appreciate their jobs. Told they are unable to amend a birth certificate due to lockdown level 3 and had to come back when it was level 2.
So what must we do as South Africans? Took my son in to apply for his passport, February 2022, I needed a card ID and passport as well. First day in, waited in line gave up early. Second day in went earlier, busy day.
